
Baker, But Win NCAA Doubles Match

STANFORD, Calif. - Marianne Baker and Ramona But of the University of Maryland won their first-round match Thursday in the NCAA Women's Doubles Tournament being hosted by Stanford University.
Baker and But, ranked 11th in the nation in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association ratings, defeated Margarita Karnaukhova and Anastassia Lyssenko of Sacramento State, 6-2, 6-2, in Friday's match.
But and Baker will advance to Friday's round of 16 against the winner of Thursday's late first-round match between second-seeded Melissa Applebaum and Audra Cohen of Miami, and Nikkita Fountain and Paula Zabala of Florida International.
But and Baker improved their record to 27-5 this season with the victory.
