Maryland Gymnastics Holds Annual Team Banquet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Women's Gymnastics Team brought its 2006 season to a close at Sunday's banquet which was held in Heritage Hall in the Comcast Center. Several Terps were honored for their efforts this season.

The Iron Terp Award was given to Seniors Rebecca Ruppert and Mandy Pascual. This honor is for their hard work in the weight room. Ruppert along with Sophomore Gretchen Kittelberger received the Perserverance Award. Ruppert came back from an elbow injury this fall and Kittelberger returned this year after a season-ending knee injury her Freshman year.

The Timex Award was given to Freshman Kelsey Nelligan. This is given to the gymnast who keeps on tickin'. Junior Rachel Colon received the Most Improved Gymnast award, while Sophomore Morgan Fishbein was honored with the Most Consistent Gymnast Award.

Kim Loew was named Rookie of the Year for her impressive contribution on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Rachel Martinez closed out her career as a Terp with the 2006 MVP award.
