COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Fresh off a 2006 sophomore season in which he shattered the University of Maryland's save record with 13, junior left-hander Brett Cecil continued his dominant performance through the summer months as a member of the Orleans Cardinals in the Cape Cod League.
While there, Cecil held opposing batters to a .184 average, while posting a 1-0 record, 2.17 ERA, and a 40-9 strikeouts-to-walks ratio in 29 innings. For his efforts, the Dunkirk, Md. native was listed sixth on Baseball America's recent ranking of the top 30 prospects in the Cape Cod League.
Cecil was one of 19 Terrapin players who participated in summer leagues located throughout the United States.
