WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -
Senior Marianne Baker and Freshman Eleanor Peters won the first match of the fall season at the 14th Annual William & Mary Invitational in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Baker and Peters faced ODU in the Flight A Doubles, winning the match, 8-6. Flight B Doubles sophomore Julia Graca and senior Brooke Rogers also proved successful, 8-6.
# 69 Baker faced # 63 Caitlin Collins of UNC in the Flight A Singles. Baker flawlessly took the first set, 6-0, as well as the second, 6-3, to win both of her matches for the day. Peters competed in Flight B Singles, winning against #105 Lynzee Kever of Marshall, 6-2, 6-4.
Flight C Singles sophomore Michal Amir took her match in three sets. After falling 6-3 in the first, Amir came back for Maryland, winning the last two sets, 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Juliana Naso also took her match in the Flight E Singles, 6-3, 6-1.
