
Q & A With Sophomore Eric Cullen

Sophomore Eric Cullen (Severn, Md.) had his first collegiate win against North Carolina last season in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.00) and went on to also win the 200 breast against Virginia (2:06.89). In his first ACC Championships, he was part of the sixth-place 200 medley relay team (1:30.21), finished 36th in the 200 individual medley (1:55.00) and placed 15th in both the 100 breast (56.66) and 200 breast (2:04.43). Cullen talks about this season, his time at Maryland and his personal interests.
Q: Who is your greatest role model?
Cullen: My parents.
Q: What is something you do before every meet?
Cullen: Eat a healthy meal
Q: Have you ever played any other sports?
Cullen: Soccer and baseball
Q: What is your favorite food?
Cullen: Chipotle.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
Cullen: The Office.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
Cullen: Sleep, eat, and watch movies.
Q: What are your goals for the season?
Cullen: Top 8 at ACCs and to get my NCAA B cut.
Q: What is the best thing about being a student athlete in college?
Cullen: Meeting other athletes and being able to pick my classes before everyone else.
Q: What has been your greatest athletic thrill?
Cullen: My first ACC's last year
Q: What do you see as being your role on the team this season, as a sophomore?
Cullen: I feel that I can help push and motivate other members of the team.
Q: What has been your favorite class you have taken at Maryland?
Cullen: History of Rock Music.
Q: How have you grown as a swimmer since you have been at Maryland?
Cullen: I'm more confident in myself and I have improved my strokes.
Q: What made you choose to come to Maryland?
Cullen: My major, the location, and the team.
