5 more days of boot camp!

Tonight was our last Sunday lift/run, and it definitely won't be forgotten! Barry was sure to work us hard, but the team encouraged one another, and we ended the night on a great note. I can't believe we've already been through 5 weeks of boot camp! Tonight was the Seniors last Fartlek, and I heard Gretchen even made a documentary about it with her new video camera. Although Bonomo hasn't made a documentary, I think she was just as excited.

As a freshman, I've definitely been enjoying the changes from club to NCAA gymnastics. All of the girls are from all around the country, and it's so fun to be on a team with girls with such different personalities from so many different backgrounds. The girls are amazing, and they've made the transition for the freshman go by smoothly. Plus, I'd still be lost walking around campus without them! The atmosphere of college gymnastics is so positive and uplifting and the team couldn't possibly be more encouraging. The pressure to be the best individual gymnast is no longer on the freshman's minds, but we are pumped to work hard for the team! As for school, I think we are finally getting used to balancing the pressures between academics and athletics. The coaches are so amazing at being there for us whenever we are struggling with time management, and the academic help we receive has definitely been a huge benefit. Duke has even helped me find better ways to approach my busy schedule, and I love that our coaches want to be there for us in all aspects!

We are definitely getting ready for our first Intrasquad! We started putting our routines together on every event, and all of our floor routines have finally been choreographed! We had a great time with Russell, our choreographer, and he worked hard with most of the team all week. From Justin Timberlake to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, our new routines are full of fun and excitement... but that's pretty much what you get with Russell!

Friday night the team worked a canned food drive at Maryland Madness. We had a great time talking to random people with Maryland shirts on, having handstand contests, and of course watching Talia get in a box. I think Talia can fit in anything! She barely even crushed the pop-tarts; it was quite incredible. After we worked the drive, we got to watch Maryland Madness, and it was a blast. I've never been that much of a basketball fan (except for my Houston Rockets), but after Friday night, I am definitely going to be a devout Terp Basketball fan!

Saturday was Brandi's 20th birthday... So I can't end without giving her a shout out! Happy birthday B!!

Every day keeps getting better. We are ready for what's to come this year! Thank y'all for reading!
