
Terps Open Play at the ITA Regional Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team opened play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships Friday in Norfolk, Va.
The Terrapins' doubles duo of sophomore co-captain Lisa Miller and freshman Adela Matejkova won the first two doubles rounds Friday.
They defeated Natalia Christenson and Sydney Murray of Columbia, 8-6, in the first round. Then they beat Katharine Attwell and Jacqueline Mabatah of Boston College, 8-4, in the second round.
Sophomore Maggie MacKeever and Matejkova each won their first round singles matches, but lost their second round matches.
MacKeever defeated Emily Herb of Connecticut, 7-5, 6-1, in the first round, and lost to Lara Alexander of Virginia, 6-2, 6-1, in the second round.
Matejkova beat Jeanne Schwartz of Marshall, 6-3, 6-3, in the first round and then dropped her match to Dina Senkina of Temple, 6-3, 6-4, in the second round.
The team will continue competition in Norfolk through Tuesday.
