Previous Terps Tumble Talks

Wow, the month of October certainly has flown by, and it's hard to believe it's almost over! Thanks to the last six weeks of hard work during our "boot camp" everyone is looking strong, fast, and sharp. We really stepped it up in the gym this past week, with a number of people putting together full bar routines, full beam routines, and even full floor routines with tumbling into the resi pit. The atmosphere in the gym is just electrifying. With everyone being so motivated and supportive of one another you just can't help but get excited about coming in to practice everyday!

But even more exciting was the team event we had planned for this week. We were all set to go to a corn maze this past Thursday. We split up into teams and we even had costumes ready to go (My team was going to be Ninja Turtles). Unfortunately, we got rained out and couldn't go. Instead the coaches called a team meeting and we all showed up unsure what it was about. The whole team had been sitting in the conference room for several minutes when one of the secretaries came in the room and told us that there was a problem and that one of the administrators was coming down to talk to us about it in a few minutes. At this point we all were getting a little nervous, thinking we were in trouble for something, even though we couldn't think of anything we had done wrong.

We sat in angst for a couple more minutes before the secretary reappeared and told us that in actuality there was no problem at all but instead we were doing a scavenger hunt, and she had our first clue!!! We were so surprised. We were so eager to get started we practically tripped over each other trying to get out of the conference room as fast as we could. We ran up, down, and around Comcast finding and figuring out clues. Then the search headed over to HHP and we continued looking for clues in there. Finally, we ended up at the gym where we received tons of new Nike and Under Armour apparel. I have to put a special thanks to the coaches here for all the great stuff we got! They definitely spoiled us this year. So despite the rain ruining our original plans, it ended up being a pretty good day after all!

Fortunately, after a solid three days of rain it finally stopped on Saturday in time for the Terps vs. Clemson football game. The game was also the Scholar-Athlete Recognition Game, so every athlete that had above a 3.0 GPA got to walk across the field at half time. 7 people on our team got to walk plus a bunch of our alumni from last year came back to participate too!

So now we are gearing up for another week. Monday and Tuesday we are having "show and tell" in the gym so be sure to read about it in next week's Tumble Talk.
