Hey Guys!
We just enjoyed a wonderful week off of bootcamp and are ready to jump right back into the swing of things. This past week we had the opportunity to enjoy no bootcamp and really focus on our gymnastics and schoolwork. With fresh bodies and legs we were able to really get down to business in the gym.
We saw some pretty incredible stuff in the gym as we started putting sets together. We saw some solid beam skill sets this week along with some nice bar combinations. Michele did some sweet double backs off beam along with rock solid skill sets. We also saw some nice yurchenko fulls on vault from Valbert and K.J and Gretchen's vault looks better than ever. Both Kelsey's have shown some pretty impressive improvements on vault and have really shown the team that hard work does pay off. Mo was allowed to start putting combinations together on bars and started doing beam series...and wow, does she look incredible! She has been so positive in her comeback and looks like she hasn't missed a beat. Lisa, Candice and Abbey have shown some nice bar combinations as well.
On floor we brought a pass onto hard ground this week and saw some powerful tumbling from Talia and Bonomo. Allie's floor routine (that she choreographed herself) is amazing to watch. Everyone has been working hard inside the gym and outside as well. The team dynamic is amazing this year with all the girls cheering and really encouraging each other.
It was also a busy week in the classroom with many midterms and term papers due. Everyone managed to get all their schoolwork done and did an amazing job. The coaches were very understanding of all the work we had this week in the classroom and generously gave us Wednesday off of practice. This was an amazing little break that allowed us to catch up on some long lost sleep, get our studies done and really come into the gym on Thursday and Friday fired up and ready to go.
I am pretty excited for this year for there is some incredible talent and character on our team. This year is a pretty special year as it is Duke's 30th season and we all are working hard to make it a memorable one.
Thanks for reading and following TERPS gymnastics - we appreciate it and hope everyone is as excited about this year as we are!
