    Hi Everybody!

With Fall in full swing and intrasquads quickly approaching, everyone has been stepping up the intensity in the gym this past week. Routines are coming together nicely and the coaches even posted preliminary line-ups to help us get a feel of our overall strength and problem areas as a team. It's so exciting to see everything coming together...look out for some rock-solid terp gymnasts this year!

Meanwhile Vicki worked with each of us on showing off our floor routines. She brought back some great tips on choreography presentation from a coaches conference earlier, and now we're really learning how to draw in the crowd during our routines. We're pumped to perform some exciting floor routines this season!

As one of our seniors and team captains, Gretchen had a fun way to lead and motivate us this week...the sticker game! Basically, we each had an index card, and every time a girl did an exceptional job on an event, the coach of that event would put a sticker on her card. This led to friendly competition and big results. Michele stuck a brand-new side-somi on high beam, Allie nailed her full-in dismount off bars, and everybody rocked through routines on each event. At the end of the week, Michele had the most stickers, and won a target gift card! We all agreed that Gretchen's creative idea spiced up our week!

This week also marked an exciting day for me - my 18th birthday! My birthday was on Wednesday, when we have pool workout, so instead of treading water and swimming laps, Brett let us play a game similar to waterpolo! With freshman and upperclassmen on one team and sophomores on the other, we played a high intensity game that was neck-and-neck until the very end. The sophomores ended up winning in overtime, but we all had fun in the process. Later that evening as I was relaxing in my room, I heard a loud chorus singing "Happy Birthday" burst through the door. A bunch of the girls had come over and surprised me with a little birthday party! I am so thankful to all of them for making my 18th so special. It truly is a blessing to be part of the terp family!

    Thanks for reading...and GO TERPS!

    -Kaitlin
