COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Maya Finkler, junior Yelena Skalinskaya and sophomore Jen Vogel exhibited strong performances, but were unable to capture a win against the undefeated Duke, falling 155-139. Maryland won eight of the 16 events of the day.

The women improve their record to 1-1, 1-0 ACC, while Duke falls (4-0, 1-0 ACC). The meet was hosted by the Terps at the Eppley Center's Natatorium.

Maryland's stand out performers of the day won five events of the day.

Skalinskaya, Vogel, senior captain Emily Smoak and Freshman Annie Fittin took first in the 400 yard medley relay with a final time of 3:49.28.

Skalinskaya also won the 50 yard freestyle for the Terps with a final time of 23.79 while Finkler grabbed second in the 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle.

Vogel placed first in the 200 yard butterfly with an NCAA B-cut time of 2:02.09. Vogel also won the 200 yard individual medley but fell just short of first in the 100 yard butterfly.

Finkler and Skalinskaya placed second and third, respectively, in the 100 yard freestyle, while winning the 400 yard freestyle relay with fellow Terps sophomore Jackie Davidson and freshman Blair Cross.

The Terps will be back in action in two weeks in time to host the Terrapin Cup Invitational from November 15-17.
