Local gymnast Kelsey McDermid has been accepted into the University of Maryland and will join the Terrapin gymnastics program for the 2007-08 season. McDermid, a resident of Woodbine, Md., has accepted a walk-on position to the team.

McDermid is a member of Hill's Gymnastics Club in Gaithersburg, Md. and coached by Kelli Hill, Jen Bundy, Kirk Morris and Cynthia Smaha. A level 10 gymnast since 2005, McDermid is a former Level 10 National and Regional qualifier.
