COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Becky Clipp has been named the first-ever WomensLax.com Player of the Week for her game-saving play against Duke on March 3. The defender drew a charge in the waning seconds of the game to keep the Blue Devils from attempting a shot.
Clipp caused the pivotal turnover that clinched the 19-18 win against No. 2 Duke. It was the first win against Duke since 2003 and it also snapped the Blue Devils' 12-game road winning streak that dated back to 2005.
She caused a total of three turnovers in the game and also assisted on a goal midway through the first half that extended the Maryland lead to 6-3. It was her first point of the season.
No. 3 Maryland is back in action on Wednesday, March 7 when it travels to No. 13 Richmond for a 3:00 p.m. contest against the Spiders.
