COLLEGE PARK, Md. - In a battle between the Atlantic Coast Conference's top two offensive teams, Maryland did not have the bats to stay with Georgia Tech Saturday, as the Yellow Jackets took a doubleheader from the Terps 7-3 and 7-2. Coming into Saturday's games, Georgia Tech led the ACC with a .323 average, and Maryland ranked second at .284.

Lindsey Ubrun, hit two home runs in game one to keep the Terps in the game, but the Yellow Jackets responded with three home runs of their own on the day to pull out the wins. Maryland fell to 24-17 on the year and 4-7 in conference, while Georgia Tech, ranked 25th in the latest NFCA poll, improved to 39-13 overall and 8-6 in the ACC.

Maryland jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in game one, as Stacey Jennings singled to drive in Jenny Belak in the first inning, and Ubrun homered to right field in the bottom of the second.

Aileen Morales scored in the third to cut the Terrapin lead to one, and a Brittany Barnes home run in the fourth drove in two runs to give the Jackets a 3-2 lead. Ubrun tied the game for the Terps with her second home run of the game, a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the fourth.

The sophomore twice hit two homers in a game last season, and finished with 11 on the season, which was then a Terrapin single-season record. She now has four in 2007, three of which have come in the past four games.

That would end the scoring for Maryland, as Georgia Tech pulled away with two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to earn the 7-3 win. Whitney Humphreys improved to 17-5 with the win, while Meredith Nelles, who entered the game in relief of Jennings took the loss to fall to 13-7.

Maryland fell behind early in game two, giving up two first inning runs on wild pitches by Jennings, who got her second start of the day. A grand slam by Savannah Brown in the fifth inning blew open the game, and gave the Yellow Jackets a 6-0 lead. Brown, who leads the conference in RBIs, added six more to her total Saturday, giving her 58 on the year.

Down 7-0 in the sixth inning, the Terps got on the scoreboard when Sarde Stewart drove in Jennifer Wellborn from third on a fielder's choice. In the seventh, Ubrun drove in Jackson to make the score 7-2, but the Terrapins late rally bid fell short, after Morales made a leaping snag of Lindsay Klein's line drive shot over shortstop.

Sarah Wood earned the win for Georgia Tech and improved to 6-1 on the year. Jennings fell to 8-9 with the loss.

Amber Jackson moved closer to the NCAA record books with four more stolen bases on the day. She now needs only three more to become only the 12th player in NCAA history with 300 hits, 200 runs, and 100 stolen bases. She currently has 326 hits, 244 runs, and 97 stolen bases for her career.
