Gold Leads Terps To Fifth-Place Showing At Cavalier Classic

Round 3 Results 

Charlottesville, Va. - Led by sophomore Chris Gold's final round even-par 72, the University of Maryland men's golf team finished fifth out of 10 teams Sunday at the Cavalier Classic, hosted by Virginia at its Birdwood Golf Course. The Terps improved their team score by three strokes each round finishing up Sunday with a total of 297 (303-300-297=900). Host Virginia won the team title with a three-round total of 868 (292-285-291).

Gold finished in a tie for fourth individually after firing a 72 for the second time in the tournament (72-75-72). He finished five strokes back of UNC Greensboro's Drew Younts (68-69-77=214). Senior Matt Schall finished in a tie for 10th overall after a final round 78 (73-73-78=224).
