TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -
Maryland senior Jennifer Wellborn has been named to the All-ACC Tournament team for her performance in the Terrapin's three games this weekend in Tallahassee, Fla.
Wellborn batted .429 for the tournament, with three hits, two doubles, and a pair of RBIs in seven at-bats, as the Terps advanced to the second round of the ACC Tournament for the first time since 2005. Maryland lost its opening game to eventual runner-up Georgia Tech on Thursday, but then upset second seeded NC State later that night to advance to round two.
A 7-4 loss to Florida State Friday night ended Maryland's bid for an ACC Title, but Wellborn did her best to keep the Terps alive, with doubles in the first and sixth innings of that game.
Wellborn, a transfer from Birmingham Southern, split time this season between the outfield and at catcher, but played the latter exclusively during the ACC tournament. She finished her only season as a Terp with 30 runs, 51 hits, nine home runs, and 32 RBIs. Her 13 doubles led the team. For her performance, she was nominated to the All-ACC team.
