Terrapins Continue Competition at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Maryland women's tennis team continued its competition Saturday in William & Mary's annual invitational tournament in Williamsburg, Va.

Sophomore Maggie MacKeever and Lisa Miller won the third place match for doubles Flight C by defeating Maryland's own Oksana Kruityenko and Cincinnati's Ashley Hale, 8-0. MacKeever and Miller lost earlier in the Flight C semifinals to Magdalena Bresson and Lauren Sabacinski of William & Mary, 8-4.

The Terrapin doubles team of freshmen Karin Lundmark and Adela Matejkova defeated Kelly Stewart and Kristen Scott of Princeton, 9-7, in the Flight C consolation quarterfinals. Lundmark and Matejkova fell in the consolation semifinals to Princeton's Tess Reddin and Jenny Rowen, 8-5.

Another Maryland duo, junior Michal Amir and freshman Julia Huschke, won Saturday afternoon. Amir and Huschke won both the consolation quarterfinals and semifinals matches for Flight B. The duo defeated Pamela Duran and Ashlee Vosters of Richmond, 8-6, in the quarterfinals and Princeton's Blakely Ashley and Sarah Huah, 8-1, in the semifinals.

In the Flight B singles bracket, Huschke lost in the consolation semifinals to Princeton's Ivana King, 6-1, 6-1. MacKeever lost in the Flight C singles bracket in the consolation semifinals to Stephanie Kebler of Michigan State, 6-4, 6-3.

Lundmark dropped a close match to Arkansas's Audrey Bordeleau, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, in the Flight D singles bracket semifinals. Krutiyenko fell in the Flight D winner's bracket consolation match to Laura Burns of VCU, 6-3, 6-2.

Matejkova lost her match in the Flight E consolation semifinals, 7-6 (5), 6-2, to Yulia Kashelkina of Marshall. Miller lost to Cincinnati's Reddin, 6-2, 6-3, in the Flight F semifinals match.

The Terps continue competition at the William & Mary Invitational through Sunday.
