
Terps Compete in Governor's Cup Friday

The Maryland gymnastics team (2-3) travels to Towson Friday to compete in the 13th annual Governor's Cup. The meet is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Towson Center Arena.
Last Time Out
Maryland is coming off a second-place finish in a quad meet on January 27 at Texas Woman's with the University of Denver and Air Force Academy. The team notched a season-high score of 192.625.
The Terrapins achieved their highest event total of the season on the floor exercise, 48.950. The five counting scores were a 9.725 or better.
For the third meet in a row, sophomore Allison Dama led the Terps on the uneven bars with a 9.80 mark; she is currently ranked first on the event within the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL).
About the Governor's Cup
This competition matches the state of Maryland against the state of North Carolina and features No. 36 University of Maryland, No. 49 Towson University, No. 21 University of North Carolina and No. 27 NC State.
The state of North Carolina has a 7-5 lead in the series. The Terrapins have won this competition twice, in 2000 and 2002.
Looking Ahead
After the Governor's Cup, the Terps face the No. 24 Michigan State Spartans on February 9 in East Lansing, Mich. The dual meet is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Jenison Field House.
