Kitty Harrison Invitational Ends with Positive Play

CHAPEL HILL, Nc. - Jordan Hansbrough rallied for her sixth win of the fall season as Maryland closed out play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational. The Terps played six singles matches Sunday against Furman University as well as three doubles matches against Marshall.
After losing the opening set to Jennifer Betts, 6-4, Hansbrough battled back for the victory, winning the final two sets, 6-3, 10-8. Hansbrough begins her Maryland career with a 6-3 singles record.
Also winning in singles play was Eleanor Peters, Karin Lundmark and Lauren Wolman. Peters defeated Jessica Preeg, 6-1, 6-2, en route to her team leading seventh win. From the No. 3 slot, Lundmark dispatched of Lauren Tomory in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. The Terps forth singles victory came as Wolman won defeated Brooke Mosteller, 6-3, 6-2.
From the No. 1 position Michal Amir was unable to earn a victory against Monica Arguello, falling, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. Lisa Miller came away empty handed as well, defeated by Susan Biteeti, 6-3, 6-2.
Maryland posted one win in the doubles competition, getting another strong performance from the duo of Peters and Hansbrough. The pair defeated Deanna Bailey and Jessica Keener, 8-6, for their forth consecutive victory together.
Sunday's action at the Kitty Harrison Invitational concludes the fall season for the Maryland women's tennis team. The Terps will open the spring season on January 31 as they take on Purdue.
