Maryland head coach Brenda Frese
On the game:
"I thought we played well in spurts, but the disappointing thing is we lost a lot of effort and intensity in the second half. Those are areas that we have to be able to fix and correct, and really sustain our intensity and our focus."
On not scoring in the first three minutes of the game:
"They were running some pretty good actions, but it is a matter of getting our timing down and coming back. These guys are young and just coming back from Texas, but we should be able to respond and bounce back sooner."
On redshirt freshman Anjalé Barrett:
"I thought Anjalé did a phenomenal job coming in and being ready to play. But right now, Anjalé is more of an attack, penetrating point guard. What we missed was some of the threes that Kristi Toliver would normally have."
On the young players:
"Lynetta (Kizer) and Dee (Liles) give great intensity in the post positions, but I would like to see them cut down on their turnovers. I just love how coachable they are, they come ready to work every single day and are ready to get better."
Redshirt freshman Anjalé Barrett
On substituting for Kristi Toliver:
"I was just trying to bring as much energy as I can bring to the team. I was trying to do anything I can do to help the team, as far as communication. Anything that I can do I just try and do it."
Sophomore Marah Strickland
On the difference between playing with Toliver and Barrett:
"Both players are a lot of fun to play with. Anjalé is that flashy point guard that's going to give you that `Ooh Baby!' pass when you are on the cut, while Kristi makes the really nice, crisp pass. As a two-guard both players are a lot of fun to play with."
