Tumble Talk: Margaux Meeks

Let me start off by wishing Becca Pang, Kelsey McDermid and Kyra Phillips all a very happy birthday! We had a team dinner on Sunday where we celebrated their birthdays. It was so much fun, as usual!

In the gym it has been extremely lively and upbeat! Lately a few of the girls have been making mix CD's to listen to while we are working out, and it has definitely put some bounce in our step. It is funny when we catch each other dancing when they think no one is watching! Everyone is pushing themselves extremely hard in the gym. On bars everyone has been focusing on big dismounts. We have Abigail Adams who has been turning over some huge double layout dismounts. Becca Pang's dismounts are coming around very nicely too. Kyra Philips brought her full-in dismount to hard ground on Friday, and Kaitlin Josephs' dismounts are looking good! Also, Allie Dama is amazing us with her huge layout full-in dismount off bars. We have definitely picked it up on floor as a team this week. Both Brandi George and Michele Brenner put some huge passes on the floor this week. Talia Tossone put together a new pass (punch through to double tuck) and it is awesome! Beam is going great too! Everyone is starting to step up and be solid. Kelsey McDermid made a debut of her new gainer dismount on beam this week, and we were all very excited. As for vault, all I need to say is everyone better watch out for the "thunderstorm" that is brewing! : )

As much fun as we have in the gym, sometimes we are looking for a little something else to do. Saturday, a bunch of us were lucky enough to be able to go to a corn maze! So we loaded up the cars and drove an hour to Fredrick, Md., and spent most of the day surrounded by corn. It was a great team-building exercise as we used each others intuitions and knowledge to find our way out of the maze. At the farm there were so many fun things to do besides the maze including, hay rides, slides, a petting zoo and even apple shooting! We all had a blast!

Everyone's enthusiasm, including the coaches, is our stepping stone to Regionals this year. We are all very excited about this season because we know we are going to be there! GO TERPS!

Thanks for reading!
