Maryland head coach Gary Williams

On today's exhibition game: "In terms of what we've been doing so far, we've tried to get these guys to work as a unit. I think that's been a big thing this year. Whatever 9-10 people we use, they all have to play with the same intensity level. That was what we tried to do today was play with intensity for 40 minutes. I thought offensively we executed pretty well at times, and we played pretty aggressive on offense in addition to being pretty intense on defense. You know, it's Nov. 8 so you don't get too carried away with anything that happens today. We played against a coach I really respect and a coach that should be in the Hall of Fame, Rollie Massimino. I knew that team would try to play good defense against us. Let's face it, we should have better players than a Division III team, and we did. The best players usually win, but I thought, we didn't let that fact get to us. In other words, we still played with a great deal of effort for the 40 minutes."

On freshman Jin Soo Kim's 20-point performance: "He watched us practice since Oct. 17. You never know what a player is learning when he's sitting out in street clothes watching practice. Jin Soo had some things down when he came on the court. He knew a couple of our basic plays, and I think it showed today. Where he caught the ball, you have to run some things to get in that position, and, of course, he can put the ball on the floor well for a guy who is 6-foot-8. I think he was very nervous out there, which is a good thing. It's nice to see players get nervous, especially in their first time being on the court."

On today's starting lineup: "I think that's what we have to look at. I think Dino Gregory didn't do anything to hurt himself today, and he played pretty hard, I thought. We want to play the best five players as much as possible, and we try to sell to the players that eight or nine are going to play for sure. It's whether or not you get into that eight or nine. It's really important because some night, an Adrian Bowie is going to play more minutes than a starter because he's played well enough to be a starter up to this point. That's what you're looking at to have a good team."

Maryland forward Landon Milbourne

On being more of a leader this year: "I wanted to come out and lead by example this season. Coach (Gary) Williams has his speeches and everything, but I feel like I need to show everyone that in order to win and be successful this year, it is going to take a lot of work."

On his hard work at practice: "I have learned from years past that practice is definitely something that you need to come in to and not take for granted. Every day you come in to practice, you need to make sure you're getting better, and that is something that I am going to do this year."

Maryland forward Jin Soo Kim

On his focus on shooting during the game: "My teammates and coaches told me that I needed to relax before I shot the ball because I was rushing everything. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous in the first half, but once the second half started, I felt much more relaxed, and I felt like that showed during my shots."

On attacking the defense in the second half: "My teammates told me I was doing a good job shooting in the second half, but I needed to put the ball on the floor and attack the defense. Once I settled down a little bit in the second half, I took the ball hard to the rim and everything started to work out."

Maryland guard Eric Hayes

On the team playing together: "I definitely feel like we played well together. Everybody kept their head up, so we were finding each other a lot in good positions to score."

On playing the point guard position this season: "I feel like I am ready this year to play more of a role in the point guard position. [With] Grevis Vasquez being out this game, I had to be ready to go."

Northwood head coach Rollie Massimino

On playing Maryland: "I want to thank Gary (Williams) and the University of Maryland for giving us the opportunity to come here. I think it's great for our people, and I think we competed very well considering the difference in levels. Gary and I go back a long time, and he's a great guy. We all communicate and talk to each another, and I thought his team played terrific. We played Villanova the other night, and this team really competed."

On what lies ahead for Northwood: "Now we start the season - we play next Thursday and Saturday. We'll be able to compete. We were ranked fourth Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), so we'll be good."
