Hey everybody and Happy Thanksgiving!

Last week ended with our first intrasquad meet, which gave us a chance to perform our routines for the first time this season in the Comcast Pavilion. Thanks to the judges' careful critiques and constructive criticism, we were able to start of this past week's practice with very specific goals in mind. Last Monday's practice was full of locked handstands, stuck landings and precise bonus connections. Now that we are in routine mode, we can focus on perfecting the little areas that make all the difference in the end.

By Tuesday many of us were getting ready to go on a much-appreciated Thanksgiving Break. As such a diverse team hailing from all over the U.S., including Hawaii, California, Texas, Michigan, Florida and New York, we were all eager to see our families for the first time in a few months! Tuesday worked as an open gym day, where we could come in any time during the day that we were able to, and then could go home once our practice and all of our classes were finished. For me and a few lucky others, that meant an 8 a.m. workout, class and then a flight home!

We all enjoyed a relaxing Thanksgiving break at our respective homes...I know at least for me it was refreshing to see my family back in Michigan, and also to have a chance to catch my breath before final exams start up in two weeks! I can't believe how quickly the semester has flown by!

Duke, Brett, Vicki, and Kilee graciously gave us lifting off on Sunday night to allow us a little more time with our families at home. This extra time turned out to be a godsend for me when my flight back to Maryland was canceled and I ended up having to spend the night stuck in Detroit!

But now with everyone safely back in Maryland, we're focusing on the next task: Red vs. Black intrasquad. It's less than two weeks away, and we're all working really hard to fine-tune our routines. We are all so excited to unveil our new skills, line-ups and routines for the first time in front of a crowd! It will undoubtedly be a performance that you won't want to miss, so be sure to come and support your Terps gymnastics team as we give you a sneak peek of what's to come in the 2009 season!
