Head Coach Gary Williams
Opening Statement
"The concern at the start of the game was rebounding and I think they outrebounded us 15-3. When Dino Gregory went into the game, that changed. He was able to keep us
even on the glass. I knew we weren't going to win the game unless we could do a better job and keep them from getting second shots.
Offensively, I thought we did a good job of sharing the ball. We took advantage of transition situations and obviously, that's rebounding too. We could get some rebounds, so we could run.
In the half-court offense, we executed pretty well. This is a very unselfish team right now. They're doing a very good job of looking for each other.
Now, after playing five games, we play two games in two weeks basically. We have to keep this edge and I think any time you go into exams you worry about that, keeping the edge that you have. Right now, we've got a week, four or five days, to get ready for Delaware State to do a good job and doing what you're supposed to do in school and really having good practices because we have to get better. We have to learn that the time is coming quickly where we're going to have to play for 40 minutes for most of our games."
On the performance of sophomore guard Eric Hayes:
"That just changes things when we have another outside threat. Eric is a proven outside threat. All shooters don't make them all. I fully expected Eric, if he had the shots, to come our firing and he did. Greivis has played so well lately that I'm sure they were looking at him at the start of the game. That allowed Eric some looks."
On the team's starting rotation changes:
"Guys step up, I mean, players do that. I wish I could say this is going to be our rotation, but you can't. You have to wait for the players. I think Dino Gregory has just done some things where he's going to play. Sean Mosley is the same thing with his aggressiveness and he's just going to get better.
