Final Stats
TOWSON, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team placed third at the 13th annual Governor's Cup Friday night. The University of North Carolina won, totaling a 194.000. NC State scored a 192.750 to finish second, while Towson placed fourth with a 191.675.
In the first rotation, sophomore Brandi George led the Terps on balance beam. She scored a 9.70, tying for second on the event. In her collegiate debut, freshman Kelsey McDermid performed solidly to score a 9.475.
For the second week in a row, Maryland counted nothing less than a 9.725 on floor exercise. Sophomore Michele Brenner matched her career-high of a 9.850 to tie for second and George turned in a 9.80 mark.
In the third rotation on vault, freshman Abigail Adams led the Terps and matched her season-high 9.70 score and was followed by a 9.625 from George.
Maryland closed the meet on uneven bars and George earned a season-high 9.775 score to tie for second on the event. Redshirt freshman Lisa Reifschneider matched her season-high with a 9.65 mark.
In the all-around, North Carolina's Christine Nguyen won (39.175). George and Kara Wright (North Carolina) tied for second with 38.900 totals.

The Terrapins face the No. 24 Michigan State Spartans on February 9 in East Lansing, Mich. The dual meet is set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Jenison Field House.
