First of all, I would graciously like to thank all of our "Terps for a Cure" supporters. We couldn't have done this meet without you all. Next, I would like to thank the coaches for the beautiful new competition leotards that we all received for this meet. The black leotard decorated with the pink breast cancer ribbon definitely added to the "Terps for a Cure" atmosphere and reminded us what we were competing for!
After being on the road for a few weeks it was really nice to be competing in front of a familiar crowd. Right off the bat, we rocked out vault and hit 7 for 7! We were able to add two great full-twisting Yurchenkos by Gretchen Kittelberger and Lindsey Bonomo to our line-up. Both of them really stepped it up and hit amazing vaults. Also with a couple of us still itching to compete our "BIG" vaults, you are sure to see even more depth in our line-up within the next few meets! Next we were off to bars where I was able to start off the team with my season-best score of a 9.7, but I would have to say that the highlight on bars had to be Allison Dama's 9.850 bar routine, her career-best score! Plus it was her birthday, so I know Allie really had a great day! We also had some extremely solid beam routines by Gretchen Kittelberger, Abigail Adams and Talia Tossone. Each one of those girls made flipping over a 4 inches of beam look easy! Floor was another event where all of our girls looked great out there. We hit some pretty big routines, especially Michele Brenner who also charmed the crowd with her fun and upbeat choreography!
Though the end result was not what we expected we are still staying positive and focusing on the highpoints of the meet. I know we are all eager to get in the gym during this long week that we have to train. We travel to New Hampshire this weekend to compete against the Wildcats in a dual this Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Thanks for reading Terps Tumble Talk and supporting Maryland Gymnastics!!
