COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland gymnastics team travels to Chapel Hill, N.C. Saturday to compete in the Tar Heel Invitational. The Terps will face the University of North Carolina, University of New Hampshire and William & Mary. The meet is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Carmichael Auditorium.
Last Time Out
The University of Maryland gymnastics team defeated the University of New Hampshire last weekend at the Lundholm Gymnasium, 192.875-192.625.
In addition to the team victory, Terrapin gymnasts won all four events and the all-around.
George Named EAGL Gymnast of the Week
Sophomore Brandi George (Orlando, Fla.) was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week on Monday after notching a career-high score of 39.275 in the all-around on February 24.
In addition to her all-around victory, George earned a career-high and first place on vault with a 9.825 mark. On uneven bars, George matched her career-high 9.800 score for third place. Also, she scored a 9.825 on balance beam and floor exercise to reach her season-highs on both events.
Looking Ahead
The Terrapins will travel to local rival George Washington University on March 9 to compete in a quad meet with West Virginia and Kent State. The meet is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Smith Center.
