COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland gymnastics team will face Michigan, Pittsburgh and Temple at home Saturday in the Comcast Pavilion at 4:00 p.m. This quadrangular meet, the Terps' Senior/Alumni Night, is the last home event of the season. Last Time Out
Sophomore Brandi George scored a season-high 9.850 on balance beam, helping the University of Maryland gymnastics team earn a total of 192.500 points in a tri-meet on March 9 at George Washington University.
Maryland finished behind West Virginia, which won the team competition at 194.550, and George Washington, which was second at 192.650.
Sophomore Allison Dama swung to a 9.875 to tie her career-high on uneven bars, sparking the team to a season-best 48.850 event total. Dama finished second overall on the event.
Honoring the Seniors
Seniors Lindsey Bonomo and Gretchen Kittelberger will be honored at the conclusion of the competition for their achievements at Maryland.
Bonomo (Bel Air, Md.) is a kinesiology major and a three-time East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) All-Academic team member. She began her career at Maryland as a walk-on gymnast. After seeing action on vault, balance beam and floor exercise during her freshman through junior years, Bonomo was offered a scholarship for her final year.
Kittelberger (Webster, N.Y.) is a graduate student and a three-time EAGL All-Academic team member. She received a Weaver-James-Corrigan Award last month, an award given to student-athletes that have performed with distinction both athletically and academically while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community. Kittelberger also was named the EAGL Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2007.
Looking Ahead
The Terps conclude their regular season on the road in University Park, Pa., on March 21. Maryland will face host Penn State, Nebraska and Rutgers. The meet is set for 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
