COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland gymnastics team scored a season-best of 194.250 at home Saturday in the Comcast Pavilion. The Terrapins finished second behind the University of Michigan, which won the team competition at 196.150. University of Pittsburgh placed third with a 191.600 and Temple scored 190.025 for fourth place.
Beginning the competition on vault, the Terps scored an event total of 48.425. Sophomore Brandi George turned in the top score of a 9.775, placing fourth overall on vault. Sophomore Talia Tossone earned a career-high 9.750 mark.
On uneven bars, the Terrapins swung six strong routines to earn a season-best event total of 48.925. Sophomore Allison Dama matched her career-high 9.875 score, finishing third on the event. George also matched her career-high of 9.800 and sophomore Margaux Meeks hit a season-high of 9.800.
Despite some struggles early in the third rotation, Maryland came back with strong balance beam performances to notch an event total of 48.200. Tossone nailed her routine for a 9.850, tying for second. George matched her career-best 9.875 score to win the beam competition.
In the final rotation, Maryland tumbled to an event total of 48.700 on floor exercise. Sophomore Michele Brenner earned a career-best of 9.90 to tie for first place. George and redshirt freshman Lisa Reifschneider both scored 9.750 to tie for seventh.

The Terps conclude their regular season on the road in University Park, Pa., on March 21. Maryland will face host Penn State, Nebraska and Rutgers. The meet is set for 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
