COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Thirteen Terrapin gymnasts are among the eighty-eight student-athletes named to the 2008 East Atlantic Gymnastic League (EAGL) All-Academic team.
In order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team, student-athletes must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher in the two previous semesters or a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Freshmen are also eligible, if they earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.
"Quality performance in either the classroom or on the competitive floor is never an accident. It is the result of high expectations, sincere effort and intellectual direction. We have consistently earned the reputation of being a quality academic program," said head coach Bob Nelligan. "My athletes are very aware of how important the academic mission is to the coaches, university and all associated with Maryland Gymnastics. As always, I am extremely proud of my athletes for continuing to make academics a top priority."
