LEWISBURG, Pa. - With a widespread scoring attack, the Maryland women's water polo team defeated St. Francis College, 17-5, Saturday night at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium.
The Terrapins (18-8) had 11 different players score in their second win over St. Francis (7-6) this season.
Goalie Ashleigh Jobson had one of her best games this season, blocking seven shots while only allowing two to get between the posts in limited action. Anna Gossett blocked four shots and only let three past her to secure the win for the Terrapins.
Maggie Eicks continued her outstanding freshman season, scoring three goals to give her 27 on the season.
Also chiming in with multiple goals in the game were Shannon Simerly, Elizabeth Hopkins, Colleen Shaw and Rachel Jordan.
"We came out with a lot of energy and played some really good defense," Coach Carl Salyer said. "Our offense was the best it's been all year."
The Terrapins will need their offense to be just as strong Sunday when they face Bucknell in their second conference match of the season.
The Bison (21-4) have won seven straight games, including their first win ever over No. 16 Princeton earlier in the week. Bucknell played two games Saturday, beating St. Francis, 10-8, and George Washington, 11-1.
The Terrapins and the Bison will face off at noon Sunday.
