COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland wrestling team returns to ACC action Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., for a pair of conference duals with NC State and Duke, respectively.
The Terrapins (4-7-1, 0-1 ACC) are looking to return to the win column in conference action against the Wolfpack and Blue Devils after North Carolina snapped Maryland's two-year unbeaten streak in regular-season ACC duals two weekends ago.
"This weekend will be a good test for us," Maryland head coach Kerry McCoy said. "NC State and Duke have a lot of tough individuals. We've had a good week on training and the guys are ready to get back to competition."
NC State is 3-7-1 heading into the weekend and also lost to North Carolina within the conference this year. The 141-pound bout between the Terps and Wolfpack figures to be a good one with No. 13 Alex Krom taking the mat for Maryland against No. 15 Joe Caramanica. Darrion Caldwell is one of the best wrestlers in the country for NC State, ranking third nationally at 149 pounds.
Duke is currently 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the ACC. The Blue Devils won their first five duals of the season, but have lost their last two to Wyoming and North Carolina, respectively. Duke's top grappler is heavyweight Konrad Dudziak, who is ranked No. 4 in the country.
Both duals will be broadcast live on the Internet via ACC Select.
