COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland swimming and diving team kicks off the 2009-10 campaign this weekend when it plays host to Johns Hopkins Friday and Duke and N.C. State on Saturday.
The women's team returns NCAA qualifiers Jen Vogel and Annie Fittin this season as well as diver Alisa Kurbatova, who landed on the podium with a third-place finish at the 2009 ACC Championships.
Leading the way for the men's squad will be school record holders Andrew Relihan, Mitch Challacombe, and Brian Honore. In addition to the solid core of returners, Maryland has added a talented 14-member freshman class.
Last season, the Terps split as the women defeated N.C. State while the men fell to the Wolfpack. Both squads were topped by Duke. The Maryland men and women dropped Johns Hopkins to open up the 2008-09 season at Eppley Natatorium.
OPPONENT NOTES:
Friday's meet against Johns Hopkins begins at 3 p.m. Saturday's ACC triangular kicks off at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
