
Maryland Remains in First at Terp Cup

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's swimming and diving team padded its lead in the 2009 Terrapin Cup on Friday night at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.
The Terps began Friday with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:31.54) courtesy of the compilation of Mitch Challacombe, Jeff Winters, Alexsandar Damjanic and Ryan Greene.
Andrew Relihan chopped over five seconds off his prelim swim with a first-place finish in the 400 IM (3:58.07). The Terps picked up big points in the 100 fly as Maryland went 1, 2, 3 with Damjanic (49.07) earning the win. Roger Dent (49.61) and Sean Stewart (49.85) followed in second and third, respectively.
Brian Honore finished second in the 200 free (1:39.80) with Damjanic continuing his solid day shortly behind in third (1:39.86).
Maryland boasted five swimmers in the 100 back led by a second-place finish from Challacombe (49.40) and fourth-place by Relihan (50.84). The Terps finished day two with a win in the 800 free relay (6:39.14) as the team of Damjanic, Nick Evans, Chris Rouchard and Honore touched the wall first for Maryland.
The Terps will bring a 796-644 advantage over second-place Connecticut heading into final action Saturday. Saturday's preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. with the finals commencing at 6 p.m.
