COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team has a pair of midweek games on tap for this week, beginning with the home opener at 3 p.m. Tuesday against Coppin State and concluding with a 3 p.m. road game Wednesday at James Madison.
The Terrapins are looking for their first win of the season after dropping all three games of last weekend's series at UNC Wilmington.
Coppin State is playing its season opener Tuesday. Maryland has dominated the all-time series with the Eagles, winning 36 of the 37 meetings. The Terps won both meetings with the Eagles last season, 12-2 and 7-1, respectively.
Freshman left-hander Matt Fullerton is scheduled to start on the mound for Maryland.
James Madison figures to be a much tougher contest Wednesday, as the Dukes are the preseason favorite to win the Colonial Athletic Association. However, the Dukes lost three of four games last weekend at the Caravelle Resort Invitational at Coastal Carolina University. Madison lost its first three games to Southern Illinois, Troy and No. 22 Kentucky before rebounding in the final game to knock off host No. 23 Coastal Carolina, 8-6.
Sophomore right hander Brett Harman will make his second start of the season for the Terps and will face senior left-handed pitcher Justin Wood.
The Dukes own the edge in the all-time series with the Terps, 26-20-1.
Maryland was dominant in midweek games last season, going 17-2 and winning 14 straight at one point, a school-record winning streak against non-conference foes.
Live audio of both games will be available at WMUCSports.com.
