
Five More School Records Tumble for Terps Swimming and Diving

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's swimming and diving team eclipsed another five school records Friday night as the Terps held tight at seventh place in the team standings heading into the final day of the ACC Championships at Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium.
Maryland's Andrew Relihan picked up his second school record to kick things off for the Terps . The freshman, who placed third in the 200 IM yesterday, finished sixth in the 400 IM in the finals and set a school record (3:48.40) in his prelim race. Aleksander Damjanic was Maryland's other championship final competitor, as the junior finished seventh in the 100 fly and captured the Terps' second program best of the evening (47.72).
Senior Eric Cullen added to his decorated career by establishing the 100 breast record (53.81) in his prelim swim Friday morning. Cullen tied for sixth in the finals. Fellow classmate Andy Dilz took 17th in personal-best time (55.38).
Maryland rounded out its night with a stellar performance from Mitch Challacombe, who took tenth with in school record fashion (48.60), after sparking the Terrapin 200 free relay to a solid finish Thursday night.
The 400 medley relay smashed the Terps fifth record of the day, as the team of Challacombe, Cullen, Damjanic, and Dilz touched the wall at 3:14.82.
"This morning, as a team, we swam great," head coach Sean Schimmel said. "We've been talking about getting up and getting things down with Maryland pride. Five school records during tonight's session is just really exciting.
"We are going to need to make this sixth session our best session. We are in a little bit of a dog fight with N.C. State for sixth place and we need to have our best swims and our best morning tomorrow and step up."
Maryland concludes ACC Championship action tomorrow, beginning with prelims at 11 a.m.
