Tumble Talk: Kelsey Nelligan

March 16, 2009

Hey Guys!! Our season is winding down, but it's not over yet. We just had our last home meet against Arizona, Yale, and Penn State. It was an exciting night with the stands packed full of fans and alumni returning to support us. I want to thank everyone who came out. It made my Senior Night extra special and I'm sure Duke's last home meet that much more meaningful as well! I want to send a special we miss you and come back soon to Allie Dama. We love you!

We started off the meet pumped up with lots of enthusiasm and heart! Candice King started off strong on vault and the rest of the line up followed suit. We went 6-for-6 and headed to bars.

Bars were a little bit rocky, but we pulled it out. Margaux Meeks started us off strong as always. Kaitlin Joseph hit her routine with a huge full-in dismount that helped get things back on track, and we finished strong with big routines from our two all-arounders, Brandi George and Abbey Adams. We also got freshman Becca Pang on the bars, exhibitioning for the second time this season, and she ended with an awesome double layout!

We kept things moving when we headed to beam. Abbey Adams started us off with a beautiful beam set with a stuck landing! Then Michele Brenner kept things moving with confidence. Candice King hit an awesome beam that was solid all the way through. Talia Tossone kept her focus and delivered an amazing beam routine despite feeling a little under the weather! Brandi George ended with her signature double-back dismount and we rolled on to the floor exercise.

Everyone was beautiful on floor and really showed off their routines. The crowd really got into each routine and that helped us finish the meet with a bang on floor. Kaitlin Joseph got us off to a great start, and then Kyra Phillips kept it going with her crazy dance moves and huge double pike entry. Talia Tossone opened with a great front through to double tuck and finished her routine just as strong. Brandi George hit big with her graceful dancing and amazing tumbling. Michele Brenner had a great floor set as well; she smiled through her whole routine and really got everyone into it. Abbey Adams ended the meet with a huge full-in!

Overall it was a great meet and I couldn't be more proud of everyone!! Thank you all for making my four years here the best I could ever ask for! Also I want to send a huge thank you to Duke, my dad, for all he has done. You are an inspiration and will surely be missed! We love you!
