Hey Terps Fans!

What a weekend it has been! We had our first and only flying trip (to Iowa) for the season, and what an experience that was! We left campus Friday morning at 9 a.m., which gave us a day off from classes. We had two flights, one that took us to Chicago, where we had a three-hour layover, and we played many fun-filled games of BANANA GRAHAMS (a game very similar to scrabble, a team favorite), ate at Chili's and took many naps on the seats and on the floor. Our second flight into Iowa was on a much smaller plane, but the ride was pretty smooth. I want to say great job to Ms. Brandi George and Abbey Adams, who both do not enjoy flying one bit, but did an awesome job with all four plane rides we took this weekend!

Coming into the meet we were pumped up, energized and ready to go! We were informed that this meet was going to be another "PINK" breast cancer awareness meet, so we came prepared with our "Pink" leos, but were surprised when we arrived at the meet that it had been changed to an Iowa blackout meet because of their senior night (so that added a little laugh to our day).

Starting on bars was a little rough, but there were awesome performances by Candice King and Abbey Adams, with solid routines and great landings! Kelsey McDermid and Margaux Meeks also showed beautiful routines and fought with heart until the very end. The team knew we really had to step up and pull together if we wanted to be happy with our results, and going into vault and floor that is just what we did! Brandi did a beautiful full and Kelsey Nelligan exhibitioned her layout and gave it everything she had and did not hold back.

On floor Kaitlin Joseph started us off with a great hit routine that set the positive tone for the rest of lineup. Michele Brenner, as always, showed the judges and the crowd what stuck landings look like.

The meet did not end as we had hoped it would, but as a team we stuck by each other's sides every step of the way. Becca Pang helped the team get back on track with her calm attitude and aggressive beam set. With beautiful confident beam sets by Talia Tossone and Brandi George, who also added her double-tuck dismount, that helped end the competition on a positive note. Lisa Reifschneider has also been at every competition with a cheerful attitude that helps the team stay upbeat and motivated, and we can't wait to have her back, hopefully before the end of season! As a team we are more motivated than ever to get back on track where we left off, and we are going to push harder every day in order to do that.

Monday morning the team went to our annual reading to elementary students in Prince George's County. We were given the day off from practice to rest and catch up on school work, and we are prepared to go into workout on Tuesday fully focused on being the best that we can be!

The next three meets are going to be at home! YAY! Come support your Maryland Terps because it truly does help! Ms. Allie Dama, you are greatly missed and we cannot wait to have you back here with us soon! Thank you for reading, and we hope to see all you Terps fans at the competition at 7 p.m. this Friday against North Carolina and Temple!
