COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Looking to build off the momentum gained from last weekend's series victory at NC State, the University of Maryland baseball team welcomes Atlantic Coast Conference division rival Boston College for a three-game series this weekend at Shipley Field.
Maryland has won four of its last five games to improve to 9-9 overall and 2-4 in the ACC. Boston College is 11-5 and 2-2 in conference play. With two conference wins apiece, the Terrapins and Eagles are looking to gain ground in the hunt for an ACC Tournament berth.
The first game of the series begins at 7 p.m. Friday. Freshman left-handed pitcher Matt Fullerton will be on the mound for the Terps and will oppose JB MacDonald.
Saturday's game is set for 1 p.m. and is the ACC's Game of the Week. The game will be televised on Raycom. Check local listings for details. Staff ace Scott Swinson will pitch for the Terps on TV, while Boston College will answer with John Leonard.
Sophomore left-hander Eric Potter will start Sunday's game for Maryland. Right-hander Mike Dennhardt gets the call for the Eagles.
Boston College has given Maryland trouble since joining the league in 2006. The Eagles own the all-time series lead, 8-3, and swept the Terps a season ago.
Senior Will Greenberg leads the Terps' offense, entering the weekend with the team lead in batting average (.361), on-base percentage (.489) and slugging percentage (.611).
Boston College hits .324 as a team, the fifth-best mark in the ACC. Tony Sanchez is the Eagles' leading batter, hitting .433, while Robbie Anston isn't far behind at .426.
Tickets for weekend games are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 17 years of age and senior citizens.
Live radio coverage of all three games will be available on the Internet at WMUCSports.com.
