COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team plays a pair of in-state foes this week, beginning with a 3 p.m. matchup Tuesday at Navy, followed by a home game at 7 p.m. Wednesday against UMES.
The Terrapins (11-15) are in search of their first non-conference road victory of the season Tuesday and will look for either Matt Fullerton or Adam Kolarek to earn it as the starting pitcher. No matter which pitcher Maryland goes with, there will be a lefty-lefty matchup, as southpaw Jeff Murdza will pitch for the Midshipmen.
Navy is 9-14-1 this season and 8-10-1 at home. However, the Midshipmen are coming off a series victory against Patriot League opponent Lafayette, winning three of four games.
The all-time series between Maryland and Navy is tied at 28 apiece. The Terps won last year's lone matchup at Shipley Field thanks to a two-home run effort from Nick Jowers.
UMES is 6-21 on the season, including an 11-4 loss at the hands of Maryland earlier this season. Starting on the mound for Maryland will be either right-hander Scott Swinson or left-hander Eric Potter. Russel Deutschmann will start for the Hawks.
The Terps own a 38-1 edge in the all-time series against the Hawks.
Live radio coverage of both game will be available free online at WMUCSports.com.
