Shin Leads Terps at First Day at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. - After the first day of competition at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate tournament, the Maryland men's golf team sits in 13th place with a combined 20-over par first round. The Terrapins were paced by Donnie Shin, whose first-round 74 (3-over par) left him in a tie for 24th place individually.

Just a stroke back of Shin finished Chris Gold. His round of 75 left him in a tie for 37th place. John Popeck finished 6-over par, tied for 53rd, while Brendan Tracy fired a first-round 78 to pull into a tie for 62nd overall.

The leaders after the first day of the tournament are Augusta State, which finished 2-over par paced by first-place Janne Kaske (4-under 67) and Virginia, which is a combined 4-over after the first day.

Competition resumes on Monday, with the tournament wrapping up on Tuesday afternoon.
