
Ashley Williams Places first in Weight Throw at ECAC Championships

BOSTON - This weekend, the Terps competed in the ECAC Championships and Alex Wilson Invitational. With only 4 female athletes competing, Maryland placed 13th overall at the championships in Boston.
Senior Ashley Williams hit the NCAA provisional mark in the Weight Throw at the ECAC Championships. She claimed victory in this event with a mark of 62-6.00 and also placed 3rd in the Shot Put on Saturday with a throw of 44-6.00.
In the multi, Kiani Profit finished 4th with a final score of 3607. Profit remains on the NCAA provisional list based off of her previous performances in the pentathlon. She had a solid performance, finishing off with a win in the 800m event.
Christina Nelson finished 8th in the mile with a final time of 4:57.04. For the trials in the event on Saturday, she had run 4:57.44. Kelley Pry also posted an 8th place finish in the 800m running 2:11.53 in the trials and 2:11.90 in the finals. This was Pry's best performance of the indoor season.
At the Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame, Michelle Fedrick ran the 400m on an oversized track. She placed 5th overall and just missed the NCAA qualifying standard with a time of 54.65.
Also competing at the Wilson Invitational was Jeremy Samuels who competed in the 400m, running a time of 48.53.
The Terps will be preparing for their next meet at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC that is scheduled for March 16-20.
