COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team travels to No. 17 Clemson for a three-game series Saturday through Monday. It is the Terrapins' final Atlantic Coast Conference road trip of the season.
The Terps enter the series with the Tigers with a 22-24 record and 6-18 mark in the ACC. The Terps won both their midweek games this week, defeating James Madison and West Virginia, scoring 25 combined runs.
Clemson is 30-15 and 14-10 in conference play. The Tigers have not played in almost a week to focus on final exams, but took two of three from conference-rival Georgia Tech at home last weekend.
The series begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday with Scott Swinson toeing the rubber for the Terps against Trey Delk.
Sunday's second game features a pair of Harmans on the hill, as Maryland's Brett Harman takes on Clemson southpaw Casey Harman. Brett Harman currently ranks seventh in the ACC in strikeouts with 61.
Monday's series finale is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch. Freshman left-hander Matt Fullerton will get the start for the Terps and face Chris Dwyer.
A.J. Casario and Mike Murphy lead the offense for Maryland. Casario leads the team in batting average (.327), runs (40) and on-base percentage (.421). Murphy leads in home runs (10), RBIs (39), doubles (14), total bases (100) and slugging percentage (.602).
With ten homers, Murphy has reached double figures for the second straight season and ranks fifth on the school's all-time list. Murphy enters the series two RBIs short of third on the Terps' all-time list.
The Tigers currently sit in second place in the ACC's Atlantic Division. Clemson has pitched to a staff ERA of 3.63 this season, the second-best number in the conference.
Offensively, Ben Paulsen and Kyle Parker are the primary run-producers. Paulsen leads the Tigers with a .386 batting average and 47 RBIs while Parker has a team-high 10 homers and 46 RBIs.
Video of the entire series will be available on the Internet via ACC Select. Radio coverage for all Maryland baseball games will be provided live online at WMUCSports.com.
