COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland sophomore Kiani Profit earned an invitation Tuesday to participate in next week's NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, according to information released by the NCAA.
Profit's time of 58.16 seconds in the women's 400 hurdles earned her an at-large berth in the field for that event. Top five finishers in each of four regional championships earned automatic berths, and the NCAA was able to extend the field based on previous performance.
Profit will be one of 26 student-athletes to compete in the 400 hurdles at the Nationals, to be held June 10-13 at Fayetteville, Ark.
She will join Terrapin senior Michelle Fedrick, who was the fifth-place finisher in the women's 400-meter dash at the East Regionals last week in Greensboro, N.C.
