CHICAGO - The Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of America has tabbed both the Maryland men's and women's swimming and diving teams as Scholar All-American Teams while Terrapin sophomore Annie Fittin was named a Scholar All-American, announced by the organization July 1.

The men's squad, which boasted a 3.15 team GPA, ranked 24th nationally. The Terp women registered a 3.13 team GPA, which ranked 96th in the nation.

Fittin, a biology major from Sea Girt, N.J., finished 41st in the 100 back (54.14) at this year's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in College Station, Texas.

Scholar All-Americans are selected on the basis of their performance in the pool and classroom. To be selected to the All-American team, swimmers must qualify for the NCAA Championship meet and achieve a GPA of 3.50 or higher. To be tabbed as Scholar-Athlete Team, squads must register a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. American boasted the top men's GPA (3.54) while Rice tallied the top GPA (3.62) on the women's side.
