COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Katie Rogus was recently named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third-team selection as voted nationally by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Rogus, who completed her eligibility with the Terrapins this spring, was the lone University of Maryland student-athlete to earn national recognition in the program in the 2008-09 school year. Her appearance on the national ballot came after she was voted to the All-District 2 team.
The Maryland track and field program also picked up recognition on Wednesday from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Zack Ray, a rising sophomore hurdler, and Chanel Williams, a senior hurdler, were named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
To be considered for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 for the most recent semester and for their careers.
