Hansbrough Shines at Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore Jordan Hansbrough had a hand in three victories for the Terps during Friday's action at the 2009 Maryland Invitational.
Hansbrough won twice in singles and combined with freshman Alexandra Brand for a victory in doubles in the three-day tournament which features players from Syracuse, George Washington,James Madison, Yale, Georgetown, Radford, Nova Southeastern and Howard.
Hansbrough downed Michele Gee of Howard 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round of the Flight A singles before defeating Karolina Porizkova of Nova Southeastern 6-2, 6-2.
Brand, Oksana Krutiyenko, Lauren Wolman also picked up wins in singles for the Terps.
Play continues Saturday and Sunday at the Tennis Center at College Park. Saturday's action gets underway at 8:30 a.m., beginning with doubles followed by main draw singles quarterfinals action in Flights A, B and C.
