Quick Turnaround: Terps at Wake Tuesday

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - • Fresh from a victory over No. 18/19 Florida State, Maryland has a quick turnaround and travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. to face Wake Forest on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. The Terps beat the Seminoles, 77-68, on Sunday night, then had a mid-day practice before boarding a plane for the flight south. It marks the only time during the season the Terrapins will play two games in three days.

    The game will be televised live regionally on the Raycom network. A list of affiliates is on a link at the top of the page. In the Baltimore-Washington area, it can be seen on WNUV-TV and on WDCA-TV.

    Saturday's game at Boston College will also be televised by Raycom at 4 p.m.

    Both games can also be heard across the Terrapin Sports Radio Network, including Baltimore flagships WJZ-FM (105.7), WJZ-AM (1300). In Washington, D.C., Tuesday's game will be heard on WTGB-FM (94.7), while Saturday's game will be heard on WJFK-FM (106.7). Pregame Tuesday begins in Washington, D.C., with a 6:30 p.m. show on WJFK-FM-106.9.

  • Maryland earned a win in its Atlantic Coast Conference opener, extending a streak of victories over Florida State in Comcast Center to six games. Greivis Vasquez had 17 of his game-high 22 points after halftime to lead three Terrapins in double figures. Eric Hayes hit 5 of 6 behind the 3-point line en route to 17 points, while Landon Milbourne finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

  • Senior Eric Hayes comes into the Wake Forest game needing just seven points to become the 48th Terrapin in school history to hit the 1,000-point plateau for his career. Hayes is averaging 11.7 points per game this season and is shooting a solid .472 from behind the 3-point line (3rd in the ACC).

  • Vasquez has scored at least 20 points in six straight games, becoming the first Maryland player to have that long a 20-point streak since Walt Williams finished the 1991-92 season with 19 straight. Vasquez is averaging 24.2 points per game in his last six games and 21.7 ppg in his last 10 games (all double figures). The senior from Venezuela is on Maryland career lists in nine different categories and is among Atlantic Coast Conference leaders in six categories.
