Maryland head coach Gary Williams
Opening statement:
"First, you have to give Longwood a lot of credit. They aren't in a conference and the last place they played was South Dakota State. When you're not in a conference you have to fight to get games and you have to go to a lot of places. Dana Smith deserves a lot of credit because he was really good out there tonight and he fought the whole time. As far as our team, I was pleased we got off to a good start. We didn't let it get sloppy when we got the lead, and we were able to get different combinations of players into the game. It was good to see as the game went on in the second half even though the score was what it was. Dino Gregory got a lot more active in that situation and James Padgett got some good minutes. So hopefully those guys take that intensity into ACC play. Sean Mosley was 8-for-8 from the field and his stroke really looked good tonight. He's in a good spot right now for the next 13 games."
On the play of James Padgett:
"He had seven rebounds and 10 points in 20 minutes, which is pretty good. Hopefully he can do the same things against bigger teams."
On the play of Maryland in the beginning of the first half:
"Giving the circumstances it was a good start. You don't want to pick up any bad habits and obviously you don't want to get anybody hurt. We continued to run our offense and we did what we were supposed to do. We gradually got more aggressive on the glass and it was good to see that."
Freshman forward James Padgett
On today's win:
"It feels good. We [were] out there working hard [and] trying to get better everyday. Yeah, it was an out of conference team ... but we've got to work better to get better in the future in conference games. "
On Sean Mosley's perfect shooting:
"Hard work. He works hard. He is in the gym a lot. Consistency is where he gets the job done."
Freshman forward Jordan Williams
On today's win:
"It feels great. It was a big win for us. Any win is a big win. Coach emphasized before the game that no matter who we are playing against we have got to play hard. I think we did a good job. We didn't care who they were. We wanted to play hard and I think we did that tonight."
Sophomore guard Sean Mosley
On his perfect shooting:
"I didn't realize that. I was just too focused to the game tonight. I didn't realize that I was eight for eight tonight. That's what happens when things are going your way and your shots are falling. I think I did a great job by getting open and guys getting down the court. I hit the open shots."
Longwood head coach Mike Gillian
On Maryland:
"[Maryland] is a very explosive team. I think this Maryland team is very talented. They're put together a little differently than what we've seen out of Virginia and Virginia Tech. Some of those people will slow the pace a little bit. They're built to get stops and stop you from scoring. This team is built to score the ball, use their firepower and to outscore you when all is said and done. They're certainly capable of doing that. They're very impressive."
On Maryland's seniors:
"[Greivis] Vasquez, [Eric] Hayes and [Landon] Milbourne have the ability to play within themselves. They don't force the issue, they take what they can get. They're all willing to throw the ball in to each other, throw it inside, willing to offensive rebound. Those are signs of a team that believes in each other and has trust. When you have the talent to go with that, that's a potent combination."
