Tipping Off: Maryland's win over NC State was its sixth straight in the series. The Terps' longest streak is seven games, a stretch that extended from Jan. 29, 1983 to Feb. 27, 1985. It is also the fourth time Maryland has won at least six straight in the series. At 3-1, the Terps are off to their best start in ACC play since 2002-03. Additionally, the 24-point win is Maryland's largest over an ACC opponent since a 91-52 victory over Clemson on Feb. 25, 2003.

No. 1,000: Gary Williams coached the 1,000th game of his career tonight. He is the sixth-winningest active head coach (by number of wins) in NCAA Division I men's basketball with an overall record of 638-362. Williams also ranks third all-time (second active) among coaches at ACC school with 431 victories at Maryland, and also ranks second among active league coaches with 191 ACC victories. Williams is the Terps' all-time winningest coach.

Balanced Effort: After six players scored in double-figures against Longwood on Tuesday, four reached double-digits against NC State. Greivis Vasquez led all scorers with 19 points, Landon Milbourne had 18, Sean Mosley had 13 and Cliff Tucker had 11. Additionally, Jordan Williams (nine points), Dino Gregory (eight) and Eric Hayes (seven) just missed double-figure scoring.

Mr. 4,000: Four minutes into tonights game, Greivis Vasquez logged the 4,000th minute of his career. The senior, who earlier this season became first ever Terp to record 500 rebounds and 500 assists in a career, finished the game with 19 points, five assists and three rebounds.

Defense Wins: North Carolina State averaged 82.0 ppg over its previous three games, all against ranked ACC opponents. The Wolfpack finished with just 64 this evening.

Tucker Provides Spark: Junior Cliff Tucker didn't miss a shot from the field in the first half, scoring nine points on 3-for-3 shooting (1-1 3P), while making 2 of 3 at the line. His nine points at halftime were outdone only by Landon Milbourne's 10.

Lights Out From Outside: Maryland has shot well from 3-point range in ACC play (.625 vs. FSU; .444 at Wake Forest; .583 at BC; .543 overall), and continued to shoot well from long-distance tonnight. The Terps hit 6 of 13 in the game (.463), including 4 of 6 in the second half.

More from Milbourne: Landon Milbourne scored in double-figures for the eighth straight game, finishing with 18 points and five rebounds. The senior hit 7 of 11 shots and 4 of 4 free throws.

Tidbits: When Maryland took an 85-59 lead with close to 3:00 left in the game, it marked the largest lead over an ACC team this season. The previous high was 25 over Boston College ... The Terps had only nine turnovers against NC State. They have finished with fewer than 10 turnovers in nine games this season... Maryland limited NC State to just two fast break points.

Game Trends: The Terps went to the free-throw line early and often. Although they opened on just 3-for-8 shooting from the floor, they hit 6 of 7 free throws for an early 12-8 lead.

  • After a layup by Tracy Smith made it 12-10, Maryland went on an 8-0 run, spurred by a Landon Milbourne jumper and 3-pointers from Cliff Tucker and Eric Hayes.
  • Maryland's eight-point lead at halftime was due in large part to free-throw shooting. The Terps made 13-of-16 in the first half while the Wolfpack made 1 of 2. Maryland also turned over NC State 10 times while committing six turnovers themselves.
  • The Terps went on a 13-5 run to expand their lead from 10 to 18 midway through the second half (16:33 to - 13:10). Vasquez had five points, Mosley four and Milbourne four during the run.
  • Maryland made 16 of 24 shots (.667) in the second half, compared to 10 of 36 (.278) by NC State.
